Misc. Notes
Leonard Valley and Elizabeth Porter (Laura’s half sister) were married on Oct 20, 1904 in Sainte-Cécile-de-Masham, La Peche, QC. Both were from the Cassburn, ON area, travelled far from relatives, got married and started a life on their own.  Shortly after they had to come back to that same area to assist on the farm of the aging and ailing Walkers. That farm was located in the then Henry, ON.   Henry's Corner was further south than Cassburn along the Great Road.  When you leave L'Orignal to go to Vankleek Hill you start to climb a long gentle grade up from the Ottawa River.  The Cass farm is near the bottom and three miles later the Walker and Henry farms were near the top..
In 1908, Laura Walker (then 19) would have been attending a Hawkesbury convent when her 33 year old half sister Annie Elizabeth Porter died after suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis for a year. Laura was teaching (Sep 1911-Jun 1913) at the "Henry School" when she married Walter on Jan 22, 1913 in Vankleek Hill, ON. She continued as homemaker/caregiver for her parents and Leonard Valley until after the 1915 birth of her second child Violet, when the Walter Moore family moved to Haileybury, On with her parents in tow.  In 1919 the Moore family moved across Lake Timiscaming to Ville-Marie, QC where Marguerite died in March 1921.  In 1923 the family moved to New Liskard, ON where Stewart Walker died on Feb 18, 1924.  Leonard Valley was remarried to Lillie Grace Brown May 30, 1916 in Vankleek Hill and continued to farm the Walker farm until 1931, even though Laura had sold it to Mrs Francis Hayes in 1926.  Two generations later it is still in the Hayes family, though the old farm house now lies vacant.
